Why even have Brady Lake Village public records,if the public can't have them ?

In the last 2 years a small group of people have been trying to get Brady Lake Village public records. This task has been impossible. Less than 1/2 of the public records requested have actually been given to the public. This is how things are in BLV,or Clerksville with Kinneylaw.

Anonymous said...: A Writ of Mandamus is easy and very inexpensive to serve on the Village, and the Village would have to reimburse you for the cost if they are found not in compliance with the sunshine laws. It's the quickest and easiest way to force them to comply with the law.
The Ethics Commission does not enforce the sunshine laws, so if you are waiting for them to fix the problem, they won't. You just need to file a Writ of Mandamus and drag the Village in front of a Judge. It's that easy. I promise you the Solicitor knows that a Writ of Mandamus is the only way you can force the Village to comply. So until you file a Writ of Mandamus the Village officials will just continue to laugh at you and not comply. They will just figure you must not be to serious about the matter or you would actually do something about it, instead of just complaining on your blog. As far as the Ohio Ethics Commission,they seem interested in the hiring,and firing practices of the BLV clerk gang.

Public examination of records is allowed under Ohio law, at most you may have to make and appointment. You cannot be denied an opportunity to physically view the records.The only records you cant't see are spelled out clearly in the law and really are not the kind of records you are looking for. If you read the law I provided earlier you can see that if you are denied a record that you requested in writing, the village must respond in writing as to the legal reason for the denial as well as their other lame reasons.

The record requestors aren't the only BLV residents who are,AGOG,about getting rid of the problems at village hall. The more residents who learn the truth about why BLV residents pay the highest taxes in the county,plus an income tax,to have bad streets,fire trap housing,and officials who won't answer resident's complaints are getting,AGOG,to join Franklin Township,for a better and cheaper way to live.
